【Abstract】 As curriculum reform in basic education evolves, the development and application of curriculum resources has increasingly become a focus in education circle. The apply of picture books, which represent one of important course resources, is in line with the psychological development stage of junior high school students and also reflects what this initiative has been advocating. Therefore, the move matters a lot to the advancement of education program, the well-being of students as well as the teaching capacity building of school faculty.This paper gives insight into how picture book makes a big difference in shaping students’ moral and ethical standard by analyzing out the distinctive features of it:visual iconicity, value orientation, application flexibility, conduct regularization, emotional calling. These characteristics combined serves as a vital facilitator to the development of strong values and the cultivation of subject interest. However, the root cause of students being satisfied with a smattering of the pictures without exploring what are behind them will be figured out. Possible reasons accounting for this can be concluded as follows:the misunderstanding of using as many pictures as possible indiscriminately and the lack of guidance from teachers when reading. We must be clear in our mind that picture books are what that made complementary to practical teachings. Therefore, the present author makes a goal-oriented study on the strategy of how the textbooks illustrated with pictures are laid out and then tentatively put forward possible principles and suggestions from the standing point of pedagogy and psychology as well as in light of the author’s personal teaching experience. And hopefully, students can keep abreast of latest knowledge and most advanced mindset and can also be more engaged in social life.
